Marion was born at home on Rock Street in The Torrs Area of New Mills from Parents Ade + John Edward. Brothers & Sisters were twins Nora & Arnold, Harry & Edmund. Tragedy struck with the death of Marions Brother Edmund aged 2 Years 6 Months who died in a drowning accident, then Marions Brother Harry died missing at sea on a Royal Navy Ship, followed by Marion's Father John Edwards who died helping with rescue efforts through clearing debris & re building homes & buildings in London during the second world war. Ade's son Edmund tragically lost in a river accident caused Marion's Mother Ade to have a nervous breakdown where shortly afterwards was admitted to a Care Home to help with these issues. Some years later Marions Mother Ade was brought out of the Care Home to stay with Marion + John, Nora & Arnold. Though due to the nervous breakdown issues the stay was only short term, then Marions Mother Ade was re admitted to the Care Home. Marions first Job was working as an Usherette at New Mills Cinema Venue where also Marion met John Smith who was a Projectionist whom she married soon afterwards. Marions other Job wise opportunities were started at Garison Textile Company, a Mushroom Factory, Swizzels Toffee Company, Strines Print Works. etc. Marion + John had seven children ( In First Born to Last Born ) Vera, John, Sheila, Kenneth, Philip, Geofrey & Paul.
